Happy Opening Day

Merry Christmas, baseball fans!! Opening Day is finally upon us. Here's a shot taken this morning of yours truly and PB in the kitchen of the Midwestern White House. I hope everyone got their lineups set yesterday, because we're full steam ahead today. Anyone taking off of work today? I am languishing in the office (not a good thing). Please don't send me any texts, emails, or calls today (as I am DVR'ing the Yankee game). Any communication with me will be met with utter silence. A few notes-

So glad I took Brett Myers this season, he served it up like Chuck Sheen in Major League. And of course, Rocky Mike had to have Brian McCann (who belted the first homer of the season). Chipper Jones helped stop the bleeding for me though. Hey 3K, Mike Gonzalez on the mound looks just like you in the batters box. What is that, the hispanic two-step? I want to know how many people were scrambling for Jordan Schaefer last night (congrats to 3K for his diligence).

I'm sorry, I hate the Mets and question their orientation, but I think I like Citi Field better than the new Yankee Stadium. There, I said it.

Come on guys, let me know your Opening Day plans.

I am in the office, but have access to ESPN/ESPN 2, so I plan to "work" while watching the Mets/Reds at noon, then switch over to the Red Sox at 1:00.

I am at home today. Starting at 2 PM, nothing interupts me, except a call from wife about going into labor.

I dont know about the Mets new home, but from what I have seen and heard about Yankee Stadium, I am looking forward to the day when I can take the tour. The Yankee clubhouse goes from home plate to the right field foul pole?? wow...

Red Sox game postponed, guess Fenway Liam will get his first lesson in Sox 101 later in the week.

Fortunately I am home all day but for unfortunate reasons, so I will be "babysitting" while watching some baseball.

I agree PG - Citi Field looks better than Yankee Stadium (I think all the advertising cheapens the feel of the Yankees new park for some reason, not that Citi doesn't have a lot either). I will say this though, the Today show had a feature on the food at Yankee Stadium - my God, I think it could potentially have the best ballpark food of any stadium in the country.

"calls to me will be met with utter silence"....How is that different from any other day?

3K Mansion will be holding the first Opening Day Bonanza. Ballpark Dogs, Nachos, Peanuts, Beer and even a former Big Leaguer on hand for autographs!!! Oh, and not to mention 3 46-inch and over HDs to take in all the action.

Even though I take off every year for Opening Day, I'm starting to think I need to take like 3 days off. Would be nice to watch my teams Home Opener that has been delayed until tomorrow (they could of played today, brrrr!).

Why did MLB schedule KC to start the season in Chicago. It's always freezing-ass in Chicago at the beginning of April. The least they could of done is start in KC where it is at least 10 degrees warmer and certainly not this windy.

And it certainly makes a ton of sense to have Seattle (dome) start the season in Minnesota (dome)!

Or how about Boston starting at home against Tampa!!!

Then you have Oakland in LAA and the Dodgers in SD. Does that make any sense?

Seriously, who is running this ship!

That's some spread you got up there in Lake Villa, nice!

I agree about scheduling.

I call you back, 3K. I just don't subscribe to the 24/7 availability that comes with owning a cell phone.

I have to agree with 3K, whoever does the scheduling for MLB needs a kick in the pants.

Sounds like a real feast up at 3K Mansion. Will you allow your guests to throw peanut shells on the floor?

PG, your call back timeframe is a little off kilter. 3-6 months to return a call is not really calling someone back..

Hey...a callback is a callback.

1 hour and 45 minutes..

LETS GO YANKEES! clap,clap,clap,clap,clap

3k, will churros be available? Or how about the ice cream scooped into a mini replica batting helmet?

If so, please pencil me in for the next scheduled baseball event.

I caught some of the action during lunch yesterday, but the Rox have their home opener on Friday, which I will be attending.

- Game is at 2:05pm
- My arrival in downtown will be 10:05am
- My wife will ask that I "slow it down" at around noon.
- I will say "No, it is Opening Day, this is how I do it." at 12:01pm.
- I will be in my seats at 1:30pm so I can take it all in, and to be certain that I do not miss the anthem.

I just hope we are not 3 games back already by Friday, as my patience level and ability to watch my mouth around children will be limited.

Yesterda was quite a day of baseball at 3K Mansion. Certainly some pleasurable moments. The ballpark franks were steamed with the proper accroutrement and the nachos were nice and spicy. Even a game a catch in the backyard was had!!

How about the light me up factor on guys like Webb, Verlander, Lee and CC. I guess they didn't get the memo that Spring Training is over.

The boo'ing of Teixiera...kind of annoying. So what Baltimore, he didn't sign with you. Big deal. They should be boo'ing the fact that CC looks like a fuckin' clown with those baggy-ass pants on. Although it's better then Jeter's who seem to be painted on!

For anyone with an iphone, I strongly suggest you get the MLB app. Yes, it's $9.99, but you get MLB in-game feature, as well as game day audio. Let me be the first to say that being able to listen to baseball on my train ride home made buying this app totally worth it.

That boo job of Texeira was worse than anything I have ever heard. Even Arod in Boston does not get it that bad...

Edward said...

Texeira is a local boy though, I can understand it - to a certain extent. Who would want to play for the O's these days?

Looks like I am getting a double dip of home openers this year - off to today's White Sox opener with my father-in-law and then follow up on Monday at Wrigley. Life is good when you are unemployed...

Sulceski said...

So I'm going to ditch out of the office again today to head home to watch the Sox opener. Depending upon how the game goes I could be back for the end of the day????

Jim said...

I'll bet a sixer of Schlitz that you don't make it back to the office.

Sulceski said...

Not going to take that bet as I'm sitting at home after an enjoyable White Sox winner. BoSox are on and I'm now enjoying that game.

Hope I win the $65M lotto tonight because I may never go back to work again.

Fen Ed, we have something in common then, life is good with day baseball and being unemployed. However as much as I want to go to opening day here on Friday, I am on high alert with our baby due pretty much any day

I can understand that Mike - I missed prime seats for a Hawks game (6 rows behind the visitor's goal) the day that Wrigley Bridget went into labor. It happens. At least in this prolonged "vacation" I get to watch weekday baseball and Champions League!

I am into using the word vacation for my current situation. Except I am at home and not drunk on a beach somewhere, it is like the same thing
