The league saw it's very first trade of the season late yesterday. The Baby Gorillas sent relief pitcher Heath Bell to ARodsACyssy for catcher Ryan Doumit. What do you guys think? Who got the better end of the deal?
I'm sure everyone has checked it out, but the MLB channel's nightly programming is absolutely awesome. Harold Renyolds is the best and i've gotta tell ya, Dan Plesac is thoroughly entertaining.
I believe it was Shane who asked what would happpen if someone's player died during the season (in a very tounge in cheek manner). I cannot believe it actually happened (although Nick Adenhardt was a free agent). Such a sad story.
Did anyone see Giants hurler Joe Martinez get hit in the cabeza by a Mike Cameron line drive yesterday? It was pretty brutal (Mike Cameron was visibly upset after the incident).

I was watching the game and had the exact reaction the crowd did. It was crazy how at first he kept wiping his head, expecting to see blood...but nothing.
He then sat down and his nose started gushing and he had a cut on his forehead. By the time he walked off the field, the entire right side of his face was swollen, especially his eye.
Cameron was especially terrified because he broke his face on a collision at the plate so he understands the seriousness of the situation firsthand. The way Martinez went to the ground and kind of sprung off his knees and walked directly towards the dugout was certainly scary.
I'm interested to hear the consensus on the first trade of the season???
For anyone who is wondering I'm keeping a very diligent record of any and all transactions on the Contract Database. Just in case there is any speculation over a guys length of contract...
Looks like it was a need vs need trade. If Bell can be a solid closer, then I think ARodwilljack 40HRs gets the better of it...
This trade wasn't one that Buster Olney would interrupt regular programming for, but I think it remedied weak areas for both. PG was in dire need of an everyday catcher and he got that by giving up a relative strength (RP). I'm not sure if Villanueva is the answer, but he's serviceable for the next few weeks. Keep your eyes Street too, his Corpas overtakes him, PG is down to one closer in late May.
At first glance, one could say that 3k overpaid for Heath Bell, but after analyzing his lineup, he wasn't going to play Doumit over Cruz anyway. Plus this helps bolster his closing depth; which he'll need when Jenks or Gonzalez goes on the DL.
In case anyone cares, the Royals first base coach is Rusty Kuntz.
That's just wrong coming from Emerson...
Stumbled across this website, thought it was pretty funny.

I just want to openly thank Hackman for providing me with that website.
On a night where I had to watch the White Sox allow Minnesota to blow a game wide-open - seriously, why is Mike MacDougal still pitching in the bigs - it was nice to escape to 1986 and watch real ballplayers.
More on MacDougal...him of the 60.00 ERA and 6.000 WHIP he was called into the Sox game tonight and quickly threw 8 straight balls. Not since Nuke LaLoosh has a pitche sucked this hard. Coop went and talked to him on the mound and I can only surmise that he said "your bus ticket to Charlotte is waiting in your locker".
GER - I gotta give credit where credit is due....your boys steam rolled mine in week one. 8 days into the season and I'm already looking forward to the rematch!
